Mistakes people make in memorizing speeches:-
One of the most common mistake people make during memorizing their speeches, is they try to memorize it word to word and that's wrong.Because, when you deliver your speech it won't feel like real human is delivering it instead, it would look a robot mumbling about something, your audience won't feel like engaging with your speech, even if they want to.Furthermore, it will only cause people to get bored reason, your speech will be so monotonous they can't help it.It will feel like your emotions are not involved in what you are saying & You know no one likes to listen someone like that.
Another most common mistake people make is memorizing only by repetition.By no means, i am saying that repetition is wrong.what i am trying to stress is trying to memorize with only repetition is wrong.The reason is simple, if you memorize by only using repetition, the knowledge won't simply stick in your brain.So the easiest & fastest for efficient memorization, is to learn some mnemonic devices aka memory techniques.There are many types of mnemonic devices from basic to advanced but, to memorize a speech any sort would suffice.I personally would recommend you to learn mind palace technique as fast as you can, as it's easy to learn, can be used to memorize Various things, easy to use and it can literally change your life!

Memorize only keywords!
The secret to memorizing speech appropriately is not to memorize it word to word, but to only memorize main key-words of the speech, that are compulsory for your speech & then simply, fill the gap with your own words.If you do this your audience will sense, you know what you are talking about, your emotions will be involved in what you are delivering to the people listening to your voice & your over all speech will become engaging for your audience.
To do this:-
- You need to research your general topic & write down basic structure of your whole speech.Research is important, as i mentioned above, you will be filling your own words in the gap, between key words & in order to do that, you must posses some knowledge about the topic, so you can gain confidence in your words.
- After making structure, take out key-words & start memorizing them.
- To easily memorize key words you can use basic peg memory systems like number-rhyme in conjunction with link system.
For people wondering as how to take out keywords here's how you do it:-
Let's say you wanna memorize my current post:-
The heading is, How to memorize speeches instantly.
We will take two key-words of heading & form a picture with it.
i.e:- i will take these 2 words i consider are important to trigger info i want:-
1 memorize.
2 speeches.
Now i will turn these words into animated pictures in my head, by using imagination because, our brain remembers info better if we turn it into pictures.
For memo you can think of memo note in which we write, for rize just take rice, for speech just take peach.Now connect these created images together using link system.
I have already made a post regarding link system, you can check that out but a brief summary would be:- we turn information in pictures with our imagination & connect these pictures to each other by forming a detailed story in out minds.
Imagine a big memo you are carrying, white rice are drawn on it & it smells like peaches you have to feel the scent.
Now we know what's our heading:- memo, rice, peaches.
let's go for content:- For 1st paragraph i will take 2-5 key words.i am taking two for example.
1.common mistakes. - keyword for, common = comb man.
2. Word to word.
I will now connect previously created last image, with the next paragraph's 1st image, peaches(from heading) with common(from content) by doing this we are forming link between these two pictures & creating links between these pictures will enable us to automatically remember common is connected with peaches. & just like that we keep keep following this same patter with other paragraphs connecting them to one another with our story, 2-3 words would be enough for a short paragraph but you can extend them depending on situation.
Useful Tips:-
- Take out some quotes, references & things that are relevant to your speech's topic because, it will boost the power of your speech only putting in some famous sayings.
- Now check one more time, to see that you might not be lacking in something.If you still feel something is weak about speech, go find it, research it & add it to your speech.if you are not, then just practice repeating the speech one or two times in your mind. that will help you figure the keywords are complete or lacking & also on how engaging your speech sounds to other people by listening to yourself.
- By using this method you can not only easily memorize speech, but many more useful things like books, quotes, jokes etc.
